A Letter to My Daughter, Nora

A Letter to My Daughter, Nora

My sweet Nora,

This space is for you.

Just one week after your birth, I began searching for ways to honor you. When I dreamed of creating Nora’s Light, I knew I wanted it to be more than a journal or a website. I wanted it to be a place where your light could shine—a space where your brief but beautiful story could ripple outward, bringing comfort, connection, and hope to others who have experienced stillbirth, miscarriage, or infant loss.

I never imagined I would carry the title of a “loss mama,” but here I am—your mama forever. Walking through pregnancy loss at 21 weeks changed me in ways I can’t fully put into words. Grieving you has been the hardest part of my life, and yet, honoring you has also become my greatest purpose.

Nora, I’ve even started sharing pieces of our journey on social media—stories about stillbirth, infant loss awareness, and life after loss and what it means to honor the babies gone too soon. It’s never easy to open up, but I know it matters. By sharing, we remind others they are not alone.

What Comes Next

Nora, this is just the beginning. I will keep writing to you and for you, and through that, I hope to help other families touched by stillbirth and infant loss find their own light in the darkness.

Love,

Mom (Abby Bourgeois)
